PSSOR Basic & Advanced Trail Training

What is PSSOR Basic & Advanced Training?

Trail training is for anyone who has taken a PSSOR course. This training is done in small groups with coaching specific to trail riding. Riders must provide their own motorcycle and gear.

The Basic and Advanced Trail Training programs combine key skills of other PSSOR courses while providing practical application. These programs are scheduled on request at off road riding areas such as ORV parks, trail systems and private property.

You'll get guidance on basic trail etiquette, riding in groups, navigation, as well as coaching on trail riding skills specific to the riding environment.

How much time do we get to ride?

Riding time will vary depending on many factors (location, trail condition, weather, breaks, etc). Total ride time, including breaks, usually ranges from 4 to 6 hours. Travel and prep time are not included in the estimates.

How old do I have to be to take a Trail Training course?

The Advanced Trail Training is geared toward adult riders (call for exceptions). With the Basic Trail Training we can accommodate younger riders only in a "family" or group (i.e. friends, cousins, scout troop, etc) session. All riders must be experienced off road riders or graduates of a prior PSSOR training course.

How much does it cost?

The PSSOR Trail Training cost varies depending on the location and number of riders attending. A cost will be provided when you call to schedule or get more info.

Minimum Course Requirements:

  • Be an experienced off road rider or graduate of prior PSSOR training course
  • Provide your own off road bike in safe operating condition with supplies needed for the day
  • Provide your own riding gear (see below for a list)

What kind of gear is required?

  • US DOT compliant helmet (some will be available for student use)
  • Eye protection (goggles or face shield)
  • Long sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Long pants
  • Sturdy over-the-ankle footwear
  • Full-fingered riding gloves
  • Prepare for the weather (rain gear, sunglasses, snacks & drinks, etc.)

How do I sign up?

  1. You must call our office to discuss requirements and location of the Trail Training you are looking for.
  2. For your convenience you may use your Visa or Mastercard over the phone or in person at our office to secure your spot.
  3. You will receive a confirmation letter (receipt) prior to your course start date with the appropriate information including directions.

Will I get a lunch break?

Throughout the day of training you will be given breaks for drinks or snacks. There will not be time to leave the area to grab lunch so you will need to bring food and drinks with you. So please come prepared with plenty of fluids and snacks to keep you going throughout the day.

Do I need my own motorcycle?

To take the PSSOR Basic & Advanced Trail Training you must provide your own off road motorcycle. It will need to pass a basic safety inspection before the riding day begins.

Can I reserve a class for myself and family/friends only?

The Trail Training events are designed specifically with family/friend groups in mind. We will schedule the day around your requirements. You'll have to call for details though!

Is there anything I can do to get ready for the course?

If you haven’t ridden your dirtbike lately... dig it out and spend some time riding around. It is also helpful to be in good physical condition so if you’re used to sitting behind a desk or in a low activity environment get out and spend some time being physical before your class.
