The MSF DirtBike School Basic is a beginner level course for anyone 6 years and older. You'll learn the basic skills for riding a dirtbike: starting, stopping, shifting, and turning.
After the basics the course shows key off road techniques including standing and posture, counterweighting, u-turns, hills, and basic group riding. Especially for younger riders we cover responsible riding strategies and good decision making which combine to prevent injuries.
The school begins with the basics: sitting on the motorcycle, location and operation of the controls and straight line riding. As students progress, they learn how to ride in circles, make sharp turns and how to ride on hills.
Besides learning new skills, students also discuss responsible riding practices including risk management and environmental awareness. There are additional exercises available for more experienced riders. At the end of the school, students should have a solid understanding of the techniques an off-highway rider must use to stay safe, act responsibly and, most important, HAVE FUN!
Your entire class time is spent on the course with plenty of hands-on instruction and real-world riding situations. Total class time for the school can vary from four to six hours depending on weather, breaks and class size and the abilities of the students.
Students as young as six years of age are allowed to enroll in the MSF DirtBike School Basic, nationwide the trend is about 50% of MSF DirtBike School students are youth age 16 and under. The MSF DirtBike School along with our Intermediate Dirtbike Training are great for adults to learn how to ride off-highway motorcycles.
The MSF DirtBike School Basic is $185 for riders of all ages. The Intermediate Dirtbike Training costs $185 unless otherwise noted on the schedule page.
Throughout the course you will be given breaks for drinks or snacks. There will not be time to leave the range to grab lunch so you will need to bring food and drinks with you. So please come prepared with plenty of fluids and snacks to keep you going throughout the course.
To take the MSF DirtBike School you do not need to have your own motorcycle. We have motorcycles available for use during the school. If you own or have a bike and wish to use it during the school you are welcome to bring it with you. It will need to pass a basic safety inspection before the riding day begins.
We have a variety of different motorcycles available from the major manufactures such as Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. A child may ride a Yamaha PW50 to a Suzuki RM85 in either a clutch or automatic clutch model. As an adult you may ride a Honda CRF125 to a Kawasaki KLX250. It is all based on what you decide to bring out for yourself or what we have in our current stock from our supporting dealerships.
Here is a great option for you and your family… Bring out the whole gang and we will work around your schedule to get you trained at your convenience. With this option we can mix up the class with all different ages of students so daughter/son, dad/mom, cousins and uncles can come in the same class. You are buying a class of at least 6 students so feel free to invite others or take it for yourself as a private lesson.
If you haven’t ridden a bicycle in a while dig it out and spend some time riding around. It is also helpful to be in good physical condition so if you’re used to sitting behind a desk or in a low activity environment get out and spend some time being physical before your class.
